Hello Community,
We recently explored why AI investment and business value are moving at different speeds. Several survey reports underline the gap:
Around 80% of CEOs say they increased AI investment in 2026 (EY)
Yet 56% of CEOs reported neither revenue nor cost benefits from AI (PwC).
Eight months later, the overall picture is still much the same. McKinsey’s 2026 HR Monitor adds another dimension:
24% of employees received no training at all
More than half received feedback only once a year or not at all.
No matter how fast AI moves in boardrooms, capability moves at human speed.
So it’s worth asking ourselves two questions:
Are we using a learning model that keeps pace with what the business needs?
Are we creating an environment where people can build and apply new capabilities, and where we can see the results?

WORKFORCE TRANSFORMATION
Building Workforce Capability at the Speed of Change

Organizations need people who can build new skills, demonstrate what they can do, apply their capabilities at work, and continue adapting.
That raises the bar for the learning ecosystem. Learning needs to be relevant to people's roles and proficiency, scalable across the organization, embedded in work, and connected to outcomes. And the insights we gather need to help us identify where capability gaps are emerging and what people need to learn next.

The Capability Engine begins by identifying where the organization needs stronger capability. From there, four pillars work together:
BUILD | Scalable, trusted content — Give people access to relevant learning aligned with roles, proficiency levels, and business priorities.
VALIDATE | Skills validation and credentials — Create evidence of what people can do and greater visibility into workforce capability.
APPLY | Learning enablement that drives adoption — Create the conditions for people to practice, apply new skills, receive support, and use what they learn in their work.
MEASURE | Measurement and insight at scale —Track what happens after learning, from proficiency and behavior change to performance and relevant business outcomes.
The cycle then feeds back into Identify & Adjust, using data and business insight to surface capability gaps and inform the next learning priorities.
How Ready Is Your Learning Ecosystem?
Pearson's new report, Building a Technology-Ready Learning Ecosystem: Turning AI Investment into Workforce Capability, explores what successful learning looks like as organizations equip their workforces with new technologies.
The report goes deeper into the four pillars, with practical skilling strategies and examples from organizations including HCLTech, KPMG, Salesforce, and Deloitte.
Capability building also involves redesigning work. Which brings us to next week's experiment: bring us a real HR process, and we'll rebuild it live.

Introducing Two New HR Tools
We've been building something exciting and we want to share it with the entire HR community LIVE! On September 29, Enrique Rubio will demo two new tools:
🟣The Capability Assessment: This is a role-based, contextual tool that helps you understand where you stand across HR and AI capabilities. It recommends steps you can take to close those gaps.
🟠 The People Strategy Builder: You bring the evidence you have, identify what's missing, analyze the business and market context, test assumptions, and build a People strategy with a rationale you can defend.
During the LIVE session, you'll see both tools in action and how they can help change the quality of the conversations you have with your CEO, CFO, and CHRO. JOIN US!
