Hello Community,

This is a special week for Hacking HR, because we celebrate our ninth birthday!

The mission that we kicked off in Seattle back in 2008 with a small group of HR practitioners, business leaders, and technologists guides us in everything we do: learn together with you, connect, and prepare for what comes next. Just imagine, one of the presentations in that first meet up was about AI in HR!

And there’s one question we keep coming back to: What happens after learning?

At some point, what we learn has to show up in the decisions we make, the problems we solve, and in the strategies we build. And helps us create more value for our organizations and our people.

That's why we are entering a new chapter at Hacking HR: We are building tools.Technology can help us do some of our work with greater depth, rigor, and confidence. And we're starting with two: the Capability Assessment and the People Strategy Builder.

This week, we're taking you inside both. And as always, we want you to challenge what we're building, use it, and tell us how to make it better!

Inside this Edition:

  • 🎉 Meet the Capability Assessment & the People Strategy Builder

  • Happening tomorrow: a free workshop to build better workflows LIVE

  • Starting in 2 weeks: Women Leading AI Transformation

  • Register for BUILD with a special discount

  • Upcoming Community events + Executive Network & GSAIL updates

🗞️ In case you missed it: Join us tomorrow, October 1st, at 8:00 AM Eastern Time / 01:00 PM British Summer Time for the interactive workshop, “From HR Process to AI Automation: Build Better Workflows, Live,” where you’ll work on a real process you’d like to automate and describe how it should work: what starts it, who needs to be involved, what decisions need to be made, and what needs to happen next. 🎉 And the fun bit? We’ll take selected processes from the group and build them live in 50skills. The duration is 2 hours and it’s virtual and free to attend!

Better workflows are one part of doing better HR work. Better evidence is another.

HACKING HR LAB

New Tools to Support HR

This week, we are introducing two new Hacking HR tools designed to support some of the work HR professionals and leaders are doing every day.

You can find both in the Tools section of the new Hacking HR experience. The Capability Assessment is available now to Premium and Premium Plus members, and the People Strategy Builder will be available in beta shortly.

🟣 Understand Your HR + AI Capabilities

The Hacking HR Capability Assessment helps you understand where you currently stand across the HR Global Capability Framework and AI Global Capability Framework.

With the assessment, you can:

  • Work through five complex business cases dynamically created based on who you are and the work you do.

  • Assess your capabilities across 36 domains, including 18 HR capabilities and 18 AI capabilities.

  • Understand where you currently sit at the Foundational, Intermediate, or Advanced level across each domain.

You’ll receive a detailed report that helps you identify where you are today and where you may want or need to grow.

🟠 Build a Business-Aligned People Strategy

The Hacking HR People Strategy Builder helps you connect what the business is trying to accomplish with internal evidence, external market realities, and their implications for people.

With the Builder, you can:

  • Bring in your business goals, financial information, strategic priorities, leadership direction, and other organizational context.

  • Identify where you have enough evidence to support the analysis and where important information may be missing.

  • Combine business analysis with external market research about the company, industry, and environment.

  • Build a suggested people strategy while clearly distinguishing between Observed Facts, Calculations, and Inferences.

You can then review the strategy, challenge it, discuss it with your team, and continue refining it based on your knowledge of the organization.

To explore these new tools:

  1. Log in to the Hacking HR LAB

  2. Click on “Try New Design” at the top right (next to your profile picture)

  3. Then click on “Tools” at the left panel.

After using these tools, don’t forget to leave your feedback! Your experience, comments, and suggestions will help us improve and make better tools for the Community.

In two weeks, we are kicking off a new Micro-Certificate Program facilitated by… Malvika Jethmalani. Check it out below!

STARTING IN TWO WEEKS

Women Leading AI Transformation

In the US, women represent nearly 8 in 10 HR professionals and HR managers. Globally, they hold just 28.1% of top-management positions. With women making up such a large part of the profession, building their influence in enterprise AI transformation has implications far beyond HR.

That's why in October we are kicking off the Women Leading AI Transformation Micro Certificate Program, facilitated by Malvika Jethmalani.

Explore the five classes, ten core skills, learning objectives, and leadership questions included in the program.

  • 🌟 Starts Oct 14

  • 🗓️  Classes on Wednesday, 08:00 a.m. - 10:00 AM. Pacific Time

  • 📜 Get a digital diploma, a Pearson badge and gain 10 HR Credits

In 2027, we are going back to our roots, because we know some of the best learning happens when we get in the same room with people navigating the same changes.

HACKING HR COMMUNITY

A Peer Network Built for Senior HR Leaders

Being the most senior HR leader in an organization can be isolating. There are decisions you can't always discuss with your team, and sometimes what you need isn't another webinar or framework. You need experienced peers who understand the work and can challenge your thinking.

That's why we built the Hacking HR Executive Network, a curated, application-based network for CHROs, CPOs, and VP-level People leaders at organizations with 100 to 5,000 employees.

The Network is intentionally application-based because the quality of the room matters.

Validate Your Strategic AI Leadership

AI leadership in HR requires much more than knowing how to use AI tools. It requires making sound decisions about adoption, governance, risk, workforce transformation, and organizational impact.

The PCSI-GSAIL Global Strategic AI Leadership Certification is designed for senior HR, People, AI strategy, and transformation leaders who want to validate those capabilities through a rigorous professional assessment. ➡️ Explore the GSAIL Certification →

COMMUNITY EVENTS

Two community-led events are coming up next week. Click on the links to learn more and register!

Some HR problems require caffeine.

Others require people to read the email. ☕😂
